Objective
MC Earthmoving was engaged by Entracon Civil to undertake the bulk earthworks and civil construction of the Roaches Reservoir for Murrumbidgee Irrigation. This project aims to enhance water delivery efficiency for irrigators in the Murrumbidgee region, minimising water loss caused by climatic conditions and distance while improving flexibility and responsiveness to irrigation and town water needs.
The scope involved constructing a 5,000 ML reservoir spanning 90 hectares, requiring over 1,000,000 m³ of earthworks and the creation of a 3.6 km embankment. A sand chimney and blanket system was integrated beneath the embankment to capture and redirect seepage into perimeter slotted pipes, ensuring structural integrity.
